Farfus and Priaulx score VLN one-two
Former WTCC drivers Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus scored a BMW 1-2 in the season opener of the German endurance championship VLN at Nürburgring. Farfus was in the winning no 42 BMW M3 GT and Priaulx in the second placed no 43 BMW M3 GT.
“It’s always fantastic to return to the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, and if you go back home with a win from this place it makes it even better. For us it was important to gain further experience. At this track every lap is important for improving,” said Farfus.
Farfus shared a car with Jörg Müller and Uwe Alzen whilst Priaulx drove together with Dirk Müller and Dirk Werner.
“I had a clean start from pole which went without any special incidents. Leading the field at the Nordschleife, with no other car running in front of me was great fun. However, after a few laps this changes rapidly, and you find yourself in the middle of the traffic. The pace of our car was good, and we can definitely build on this success,” said Priaulx.
The endurance programme of BMW during 2011 is part of the build up for their return to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters in 2012.
