Rainey He wins at Chengdu

Rainey He from Chang’an Ford FRD Team won the third race of the season in the CTCC Super Production Class at the Chengdu Goldenport Circuit.

The safety car had led the first three laps due to heavy rain at the circuit.

Wang Rue’s VW Polo 1.6T was passed by He after the race eventually started. Gao Hua Yang and Fan Gao Xian suffered from mechanical problems and retired from the race at the same time. Wang Shao Feng span around, but was able to continue.

VW driver Sun Chao slowed down on lap four due to mechanical problems, but his team-mate Han Han impressively passed the two Kias of Jim Ka To and Lo Ka Chun on laps four and nine. Jim battled with Ford’s Andy Yan for sixth position for several laps.

The VW Polo turbo cars become less competitive as the circuit dried. Wang Rue and Han Han were passed by the rivals of Super Production Class on lap 11. While Jiang Tengyi, who had been leading the race for 13 laps, suffered a tyre puncture and retired from the race.

He was therefore given the lead and went on to win the race, with Kia’s Lo and Ford’s Yan ending up on the final spots on the podium.

Wang Rue and Han Han of Shanghai VW 333 Racing finished the race fifth and sixth and were the first two placed drivers in the Super Production Turbo-charged class, with Chen Liu Ping of FRC Racing third in SPT.

The fourth round of CTCC will be held on July 10th at Ordos International Circuit at Inner Mongolia.
