Michael Choi on pole at Sepang for JAS

Michael Choi has claimed pole position for Round 5 of the Asian Touring Car Series at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia from Team AAI/Buddy Club driver Chen Jun San.

Choi’s Honda Accord lapped the Grand Prix circuit with a time of 2:22.669 to claim pole position in his JAS Motorsport Honda Accord Euro-R.

Choi was delighted with the result after struggling through practice.

“I am happy with the Qualifying time because for the last three days during the test sessions, the time was getting worse and worse,” said Choi.

“We had a lot of problems with the set up and when we went back to the settings from the previous race, we managed to get good times.”

Paul Poon was third fastest in the ex-WTCC China Dragon Racing Chevrolet Lacetti, behind Chen Jun San’s ex-BTCC Honda Civic FN.

Round 5 will take place at 11:05 on Sunday local time.
