Kenneth Look takes first turbocharged pole

Kenneth Look has claimed pole position for the Super Production class in the CTCC, which will race this Sunday at the Shanghai International Circuit.

There were several delays in qualifying due to accidents. Wang Shao Feng of Kia 778 Autosport suffered an engine failure, which leaked oil on to the track. It made the track more slippery and a red flag followed more than 10 minutes afterward.

Chang’an Ford FRD Team were unlucky after the restart of qualifying. Andy Yan and Fan Guo Xian suffered engine failures. Kenneth Look, a replacement for Wang Rue at Volkswagen due to a clash with China Rally Championship in Shendong, gained pole position with a lap record of 1:14.945.

Rainey He from Chang’an Ford FRD Team and Guo Hua Yang from Shanghai VW 333 Racing ranked second and third.
