Rainey He wins at Shanghai

Rainey He from the Chang’an Ford FRD Team won the fifth round in the Super Production Class of the China Touring Car Championship at the Shanghai International Circuit.

Kenneth Look of Shanghai VW 333 Racing, the pole-sitter for this race, spun out into the gravel and into retirement right after the race start, allowing Rainey He into the lead of the race.

Ford FRD team-mate Andy Yan passed Gao Hua Yang of Shanghai VW 333 Racing on the second lap to advance to second place.

There was one safety car period which lasted for eight laps after a crash between Chen Liu Ping of FRC Racing and Sun Chao of Shanghai VW 333 Racing.

Rainey He went on to take the win unchallenged, with his teammate Andy Yan and Lo Ka Chun of Kia 778 Autosport ranked second and third in the SPNA (normally aspirated) class by finishing second and fourth. Guo Hua Yang, who finished third overall, won the SPT (turbo) class, with his teammate Ziang Zhun Dong and Sun Chao second and third in class.

The sixth round of the CTCC will be held on October 2nd at Tianma Shan Circuit at Shanghai.
