The Argentinean TC 2000 Championship has listed the dates for its 2012 season, with a selection of events also named as the series prepares for a new season with an all new engine provider.
The season will be the 33rd for Argentina’s long-running touring car series, and will start on March at Cordoba, ending in late November at San Luis.
The new Buenos Aires street race, originally due to take place at the end of the 2011 season, will now feature as the second event on the 2012 TC 2000 calendar on April 1st.
Eight events on the calendar have been named, whilst four remain at TBC at this time, with the series’ traditional endurance event, the 200km of Buenos Aires (not to be confused with the street race) still to be slotted.
No event is scheduled to take place on July 8th, which is the date scheduled for the World Touring Car Championship’s first round in Argentina. Nor is their a round scheduled for the also popular Turismo Carretera series on this date, which hints that neither will be racing in support of the event.
In 2012, the series also makes a switch in engine suppliers after four years using a 2.2 litre, four-cylinder engine based on Ford’s Duratec, which was built by Argentina-based Berta Motorsport.
For 2012, British sportscar builder Radical will provide the series with its TCX engine, a 2.7 litre V8 unit in the first year of a three year partnership with the Championship.
