Fernando Monje finds more pace in free practice

19-year-old Fernando Monje improved on his time from yesterdays’ test session to dominate the ETCC free practice session in the SUNRED SEAT León TDI.

Monje, who will join the WTCC grid at the next meeting in Valencia, set a time of 2:00.650, which would have been good enough for 15th in the WTCC first free practice session.

Monje was 1.4 seconds faster than Petr Fulín in the Krenek Motorsport BMW 320si, with Peter Rikli’s Honda Civic FD completing the top three.

Stian Paulsen was fastest in the SEAT León Supercopa class and was fourth overall, just ahead of Andreas Pfister.

Serbian Aleksander Tosic was quickest of the Super Production runners in the ASK Vitro Racing Honda Civic ahead of Russian Nikolay Karamyshev’s Civic. The other Super Production entry of Fabio Fabiani was not permitted to take part in the session.

Gilles Brucker was fastest in the S1600 class in the Team LuxMotor Ford Fiesta ST, just under two-tenths of a second ahead of Ulrike Krafft in the Ravenel Team SAN Ford Fiesta.

ETCC qualifying is next and takes place at 15:30 CET.
