Johan Kristoffersson took pole position for Audi Sport KMS at Imola, and in so doing takes the first pole for the new Audi RS5. The Swede, who topped the first Free Practice session, lapped in 1:49.548, one tenth faster than Andrea Larini’s Mercedes C63 AMG prepared by Romeo Ferraris.
Thomas Biagi was third fastest in his BMW Team Dinamic M3 E92, after emerging as the fastest in the second Free Practice. The 2010 champion will start alongside Gianni Morbidelli in second highest placed Audi, with Vitantonio Liuzzi’s CAAL Racing Mercedes right behind him.
Francesco Sini will start from sixth in his Solaris Motorsport Chevrolet Lumina, after leading the session with about fifteen minutes to go. The third Audi RS5, driven by Thomas Schoffler, will share the fourth row with championship leader Max Pigoli, whose pole chances were jeopardized by a gearbox problem during the last minutes of the session in his Jaguar.
Former Formula 1 driver Christian Fittipaldi will start from ninth in the Maserati Quattroporte in his maiden Superstars Series event, whilst Stefano Gabellini rounds out the top ten in his BMW M3 E92.
Ananda Mikola, the Indonesian driver who replaces Gianmaria Gabbiani at Ferlito Motors, will start from thirteenth on the grid.
