Thorney Motorsport withdraw from Thruxton

Vauxhall Insignia squad Thorney Motorsport have withdrawn from this weekend’s round of the British Touring Car Championship, in order to take advantage of the break ahead of June’s round at Oulton Park to develop the car.

The team competing with team owner/driver John Thorne chose to withdraw from the races at Donington Park after qualifying, unable to set a competitive time struggling with handling problems and issues with their engine supplier.

“It is with a heavy heart we have taken this decision but with limited budget we can’t afford to both test and race and the car has some fundamental issues that we need to address before competing again,” said Thorne.

“BTCC for us a long term commitment so we are looking at this as a re-group and come back out fighting. Some of the issues are just down to lack of development budget and some are just frustrating as they are outside of our control but no-one said racing was easy so we are a long way from giving up yet”

The team hope to return at the next round of the Championship at Oulton Park on June 10th, after the BTCC takes a six week break after Thruxton.
