Gordon Shedden tops timesheets in FP2 at Thruxton
After topping the timesheets in FP1, Gordon Shedden was again fastest in the final free practice session on a wet Thruxton circuit.
The Honda Yuasa Racing driver set the time in the middle of the session at which point his team mate Matt Neal had not set a time. Neal was out in the latter half of the session, setting a time which saw him finish in third. Triple Eight Racing Engineering’s Jason Plato finished the session in second in his NGTC MG6 ahead of Neal.
Andrew Jordan was the early leader of the session ahead of his team mate Jeff Smith, with the pair finishing FP2 in fourth and sixth respectively. ES Racing’s Dave Newsham was the quickest of the S2000 runners, finishing the session in fifth ahead of Jeff Smith.
After an impressive seventh in FP1, Adam Morgan caused an early red flag in the opening stage of the session after coming to a halt in his Speedworks Motorsport Toyota Avensis. Rob Austin did not participate in FP2 with his engine only arriving at the circuit in the lead up to the session. Motorbase Performance’s Aron Smith spent the session in the garage with a clutch problem.
Qualifying for the first race is due to take place at 15:20 UK time and will be broadcast live on the internet by ITV.
