Chang’an Ford FRD Team recorded their best ever record in the first round of CTCC in Shanghai International Circuit this weekend with a dominant 1-2-3-4 victory.
Andy Yan took the first win of the 2012 China Touring Car Championship season after starting from pole position.
The three Chang’an Ford FRD Focuses of Andy Yan, Rainey He and Fan Gao Xian led the race at the start.
Han Han of Shanghai VW 333 Racing, who had qualified in fourth position, was overtaken by Jiang Tengyi of Chang’an Ford FRD Team on lap three. Kenneth Look of G Racing Chevrolet fell down the grid after a clash with one of the 333 Racing’s Volkswagen Polos.
Zhang Zhen Dong of Shanghai VW 333 Racing suffered from mechanical failure when he tried to overtake Cheung Hon Bil of GDTV TSB Racing.
Jiang Tengyi went on to overtake team-mates Fan Gao Xian and Rainey He, moving up into second spot on lap 16.
Han Han spun his Polo on lap 22 and dropped to eighth, and then went on to retire on the last lap due to mechanical issues.
The second round of CTCC will be held on June 3rd at Zhuhai International Circuit.
