Tom Coronel given 30 second penalty for race one contact

ROAL Motorsport driver Tom Coronel was given a 30 second penalty by the stewards for causing an avoidable collision in race one at the Slovakiaring. This drops him from eighth to 14th, giving extra points to Tom Boardman, Gábor Wéber and Yvan Muller.

The Dutchman was judged to have spun around Franz Engstler’s BMW 320 TC, which in turn made contact with team-mate Charles Ng. Engstler didn’t finish the race, whilst Ng was able to finish but knock on damage saw the Hong Kong driver unable to take part in race two.

Yvan Muller’s extra point for now finishing in tenth sees the Frenchman’s lead in the championship extend to 27 points over Chevrolet team-mate Rob Huff and 28 over Alain Menu.
