Yvan Muller leads James Nash in morning warm up

Chevrolet driver Yvan Muller was fastest in the morning warm up at the Slovakiaring ahead of the Ford of James Nash. The reigning champion then spun off the track whilst pushing hard on his final lap.

Muller set the best time of the session on his first run with a time of 2:13.484, which was just fractionally slower than his qualifying lap. Rob Huff was close in third, but James Nash split the two Chevrolets in the Arena Ford Focus with a time of 2:13.864, with Pepe Oriola’s SEAT the only other car in the 2:13s in fourth.

Stefano D’Aste slide wide at Turn 2 in the Wiechers-Sport BMW, as did Yvan Muller on his final flying run. The Frenchman had to drive out of the gravel trap to bring the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T back to the pits as the chequered flag waved.

Darryl O’Young was able to set just one fast lap which was good enough for 11th before stopping at Turn 5 in the Special Tuning Race SEAT León.

Pole sitter Norbert Michelisz was sixth fastest and top of the BMW drivers.

The first race starts at 14:20 CET.
