Chevrolet driver and reigning STCC champion Rickard Rydell was fastest in the first test session at Knutstorp. Rydell lapped the track in 1:01.588, just over one tenth faster than Volkswagen driver Patrik Olsson.
Championship leader Johan Kristoffersson was third fastest, with Danish Chevrolet driver Michel Nykjaer right behind in fourth. Local driver Johan Stureson claimed fifth fastest time ahead of Jordi Gené.
Tomas Engström has got a new engine fitted in his Honda Civic after his engine failure at Mantorp Park and was seventh fastest, seven tenths from Rydell’s best time. Niclas Olsson, Andreas Ahlberg and Robin Appelqvist rounded off the top ten, 1.3 to 1.8 seconds behind the top time.
Tony Johansson made his first appearance in the Mercedes C-Class, with 13th and last time, 2.7 seconds off pace. NGTC/S2000 SEAT driver Santosh Berggren was present at the test, but was unable to take part in the session due to an engine change.
