José María López has taken pole position for the Super TC 2000 race at San Juan on his season debut for PSG16 Team in the Ford Focus, after switching from Pro Racing Fiat for this weekend onwards.
Lopez’s time of 1:09.905 blew away the opposition, with Matías Rossi closest in the Toyota Team Argentina Corolla with a time of 1:11.118, 1.2 seconds further adrift, with López’s team-mate Jorge Trebbiani in third with a 1:11.369.
The two Chevrolets of Agustín Canapino and Christian Ledesma qualified fourth and fifth, with Ricardo Risatti the top Honda driver in sixth.
An electrical problem for the Renault Lo Jack Team driver Leonel Pernía meant he was unable to take part in Q3 despite having made it into that session in the Renault Fluence.
Championship leader Mariano Werner was seventh quickest in his Toyota Corolla, with Peugeot Cobra Team driver Nestor Girolami the last driver in the top eight, which will all go through to the Super 8 qualifying race tomorrow.
