Fernando Monje fastest in morning warm-up
Fernando Monje continued to dominate the weekend that may crown him European champion by setting the fastest lap in the warm-up session this morning at Imola. The Spaniard was more than one second quicker than Single Make Trophy rivals Andreas Pfister and Stian Paulsen.
Petr Fulín was fourth outright and second in the S2000 class, 1.7s slower than the championship leader. Igor Skuz came fifth in his Seat León TDI ahead of Peter Rikli, who lies second in the championship.
Aytaç Byter set the seventh quickest time in the Borusan Otomotiv BMW 320si.
In the Super Production class, newly-crowned European Champion Nikolay Karamyshev was the only driver to complete a lap, as Fabio Fabiani didn’t go out on track.
In the S1600 class, Wilson Borgnino emerged as the fastest in the Maurer Motorsport Chevrolet Aveo ahead of the two Ravenol Ford Fiestas of Paolo Necchi and Ulrike Krafft. The Italian’s rival for the title, Kevin Krammes, didn’t set a lap.
