Johan Kristoffersson lost the Superstars International championship lead after last weekend’s races at Hungaroring that was filled with technical problems for the Audi driver. Father and team manager Tommy Kristoffersson was not happy.
“We had too much problems this weekend. We worked really hard with the car straight away as we arrived at the track on Friday and as we didn’t get more out of the weekend, it is of course a disappointment,” said Tommy Kristoffersson.
Different technical problems occurred all through the weekend with electrical problems putting the second race to a final retirement for the Swede.
“The power steering, gearbox, driveshaft… Johan also had to finish the first race without anti roll bars, front and rear,” said Tommy Kristoffersson.
Kristoffersson qualified seventh, climbing to fifth in the first race. A retired second race means that Kristoffersson dropped to third in the championship on 112 points behind Thomas Biagi in second on 114 points and Vitantonio Liuzzi in the lead on 120 points. Kristoffersson Motorsport team manager Tommy Kristoffersson aims criticism towards Audi Sport Italia after the weekend.
“It was their (Audi Sport Italia) decision to not test the car on Friday, but we would have liked to test. Johan is of course really disappointed over the result. The only positive thing is, other than fifth in race one, that the gap to Liuzzi in the lead isn’t too big,” said Tommy Kristoffersson.
