Göransson wins at Falkenberg ahead of Ohlsson

Richard Göransson became the fourth winner in four TTA – Racing Elite League races as the championship raced at Falkenberg today. The BMW driver won the race in style, leading from lights to flag ahead of Saab driver Linus Ohlsson.
“It can’t get much better than this. This turned out to be an amazing weekend, especially after our dreadful weekend in Gothenburg last time,” said Göransson.

Ohlsson pushed Göransson in the early parts of the race, but dropped down towards the end of the race and lost a lot of time while lapping Jan Brunstedt.
“It is amazing to be on the podium again. I had a great start, but I wasn’t able to really attack Göransson. Then I lost out while lapping and I had to focus on second,” said Ohlsson.

Local driver Fredrik Larsson gained on Ohlsson, but there was not enough laps for the BMW driver to attack.
“I am pleased with third, especially as we had to change engine ahead of the race. I gained on Ohlsson, but then it was a bit back and forth between us, pulling away and gaining on each other. It was nice to secure a double podium with Göransson on WestCoast Racing’s home race,” said Larsson.

Championship leader Fredrik Ekblom finished fourth from sixth on the grid. The Volvo driver made his way past Robin Rudholm in the start and followed Larsson past Robert Dahlgren. Larsson made his move on Dahlgren with a very late manoeuver at the first corner. Dahlgren lost no less than four positions in the maneuver as he got stuck on the outside in the dirty part of the track.

Rudholm secured fifth ahead of Thed Björk and Dahlgren. Tommy Rustad, Martin Öhlin and Daniel Haglöf rounded out the top ten.

Ekblom heads the drivers’ standings on 72 points as the championship heads in to the summer break. Ohlsson is in second on 56 points, Göransson third on 54 while the winner last time out, Thed Björk drops from second to fourth on 47 points. TTA resumes at Karlskoga on the 18th of August.
