Rudholm motivated after “extremely tough” Falkenberg

Robin Rudholm fought his way to his so far best TTA result at Falkenberg this weekend with fifth position.
“The fact that the TTA is a tough championship is well-known by this now, but to have the top ten within 28 hundredth of a second in qualifying is extreme and that motivates me,” said Rudholm.

The Saab driver qualified fifth and finished fifth after a chase for fourth-placed Volvo driver Fredrik Ekblom.
“I lost Ekblom on the outside in the first corner. I had to work hard after that to keep Thed Björk behind. But as soon as we got the temperature up in the tyres, I was able to pull away and chase Ekblom,” said Rudholm.

Rudholm was close to Ekblom towards the final part of the race but lost out while lapping Jan Brunstedt and the Saab driver is upset over the incident.
“I gained tenth by tenth. When I had more or less caught him, Brunstedt was about to be lapped. Unfortunately he was far from observant and he made a mess of it. I went on the inside, something Brunstedt didn’t see. He hit me and the parts flew. This was his third lapping incident in the race as well. I lost about a second on the incident and I had to start over in my chase on Ekblom. I closed in, but not fast enough and I had to settle for fifth,” said Rudholm.

The Flash Engineering driver is ninth in the championship after the four first races of 2012, a position he is not pleased with.
“I am of course not pleased with fifth this weekend, but we got as much out of this weekend as we could. We gambled on the setup and unfortunately it didn’t turn out better. It is too tough to just be 98 %. In order to win in TTA, everything has to be 100 %. It was nice to take the car over the finish line and get some points. We are going to take a well-needed summer break now, but I am already longing for the next race at Karlskoga in August,” said Rudholm.
