Nash hoping improvements will push Ford forward

Arena Motorsport driver James Nash has enjoyed the mid-season break, but the 26-year-old is ready to get racing again this weekend in Brazil with the team’s Ford Focus TC 2000, which will have a few more upgrades at the Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba.

James Nash has scored 12 points so far in his first season in the World Touring Car Championship, and heads to his sixth new circuit of the year

“I can’t wait to get back into competition,” said Nash. “While I’ve been really busy with PR and sponsor work, and a lot of simulator work there is no substitute for getting behind the wheel of a racing car in competition. Since the last event in Portugal the team have been busy testing some developments for the Ford Focus, so I can’t wait get on track again and see what steps forward we’ve made.”

“My race car was actually shipped out to Brazil a few weeks ago though I’m very hopeful that some new bits we tried on a test car will work well when we bolt them on.”

Nash has already begun the fly-aways on his own in a sense, attending the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway as part of the WTCC’s promotional activity ahead of the Championship’s first visit to the USA later this year.

“The highlight for me most certainly was a trip I made last month to California as an ambassador for the WTCC. We race there in September and myself, Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro were very privileged to be invited by the race hosts to see a NASCAR meeting and be guests of honour at a dinner.”
