Third consecutive pole for José María López at Oberá
José María López has taken his third straight pole position since joining the PSG16 Team at Oberá, in the team’s Ford Focus. The two-time TC 2000 champion was 0.014 seconds faster than Néstor Girolami’s Peugeot in qualifying at the sixth round of the 2012 Super TC 2000 Championship.
29-year-old López had already topped the second free practice session after team-mate Jorge Trebbiani was fastest in the first practice session of the day.
López took pole by a margin of just 14-thousandths of as second over Néstor Girolami in the Peugeot Cobra Team’s 408.
Leonel Pernía was third fastest in the Renault Lo Jack Team Fluence, just 0.133 seconds behind, with Agustín Canapino fourth fastest in the Chevrolet Cruze.
Matías Rossi made it five different manufacturers in the top five, qualifying his Toyota Team Argentina Corolla in fifth position, whilst Facundo Ardusso put his Peugeot 408 in sixth place.
Championship leader Mariano Werner qualified in seventh place in his Toyota, with Christian Ledesma (Chevrolet), Jorge Trebbiani (PSG16 Ford) and Bernardo Llaver completing the top ten.
The race takes place at 13:10 local time tomorrow.
