Andrew Jordan led the way in his Eurotech Racing Honda Civic in the morning warm-up ahead of Gordon Shedden, whose Honda Racing Team Civic caught fire at the end of the session.
Andrew Jordan ended up with the best time of 1:58.431 with only Gordon Shedden and the Triple Eight MG of Jason Plato the only cars within a second of Jordan’s time.
The session saw the debut of the NGTC-spec Ford Focus of Mat Jackson, which set seven laps in total with a best time of 2:04.900, 6.5 seconds down on Jordan’s pace as the car ran for the first time since it was delivered to the track this morning.
Championship leader Matt Neal set very few laps in the Honda Civic, only setting a single installation lap in the first half of the session, but setting a time good enough for fifth later on.
Robb Holland was 17th fastest on his BTCC debut in the Team HARD Honda Civic, two spots ahead of his team owner Tony Gilham, running in the Vauxhall Insignia for Thorney Motorsport, featuring a new Karcher livery this weekend.
Ollie Jackson had limited running due to a gearbox problem in his AmD Tuning Volkswagen Golf and Dave Newsham similarly in the Team ES Racing Vauxhall Vectra due to a radiator problem.
The session was incident free until the end, when Gordon Shedden’s Honda Civic dramatically caught fire in the pit lane.
