Bruno Spengler has qualified on pole position for tomorrow’s DTM race at the Nürburgring for BMW, ahead of Edoardo Mortara and Filipe Albuquerque’s Audis with the best Mercedes that of Jamie Green in seventh.
Spengler’s pole is both his and BMW’s second of the year. The Canadian-driver outpaced the Italian Edoardo Mortara by just over two-tenths of a second in the fourth segment of qualifying, where it was Spengler vs. the three Audis of Mortara, Albuquerque and Mike Rockenfeller.
Martin Tomczyk was the next best BMW driver in fifth just ahead of Augusto Farfus. Jamie Green and Robert Wickens were the only two Mercedes drivers in the top ten in seventh and ninth positions respectively.
David Coulthard (Mercedes) and Andy Priaulx (BMW) dropped out in Q1, with Coulthard qualifying in 22nd and last in his Mücke Motorsport-run Mercedes C-Coupé.
Championship points leader Gary Paffett qualified just outside of the top ten in 11th place.
The race starts at 14:00 CET on Sunday 19th August.
