Jamie Green on top in first Zandvoort practice
Jamie Green headed the first practice session at Zandvoort, lapping the Dutch track in 1:33.427 seconds. Closest to him was fellow Mercedes driver Roberto Merhi, 0.226 seconds behind.
Previous race winner Bruno Spengler was third fastest, but 0.667 from Green, with David Coulthard right behind in fourth.
Robert Wickens made it four Mercedes in the top five and was the final driver to be within one second of Green’s time. Best Audi driver was Filipe Albuquerque in sixth ahead of Edoardo Mortara and Susie Wolff.
Ralf Schumacher was ninth fastest and caused drama in the pit lane. When exiting his pit garage, Schumacher’s rear wing got caught in an air line and injured three members of his pit crew. The injured staff has been taken to hospital for a check-up.
