TTA returns to Anderstorp for first of final three races

Former F1 track Anderstorp host the first of the three final TTA – Racing Elite League races this weekend. Volvo’s Fredrik Ekblom has taken command of the championship but is chased by Linus Ohlsson and Thed Björk.

Björk, who is Ekblom’s team mate, closed in on Ohlsson for third in the championship in the previous race at Karlskoga. But the Volvo driver has not only got his sights set on Ohlsson.
“We have no team orders and I am allowed to pass Ekblom if I can. But my goal is to qualify ahead of Ekblom as well as the others in the field and gain points on the championship lead,” said Björk.

Saab driver Ohlsson is closest to Ekblom, 30 points behind with 29 points per race weekend available.
“I have to be ahead of Ekblom at Anderstorp. I know that I have the capacity and we have found a really strong setup for the car that I am convinced will work at Anderstorp. I am confident,” said Ohlsson.

The statistics speak in favor of Ekblom and Volvo drivers in general at Anderstorp. Ekblom won the last TTA race at Anderstorp and set the lap record. Manufacturer colleague Robert Dahlgren claimed pole in the spring race and his team mate Tommy Rustad has claimed most victories of all drivers of the field at Anderstorp.

Dahlgren shares fourth position in the championship with quadruple STCC champion Richard Göransson who had a terrible weekend at Karlskoga two weeks ago, scoring zero points.
“The championship fight is out of my hands, it is in the hands of Ekblom and Polestar. It is going to be difficult to fight for the title, but we’re taking it race by race and we’ll see where we are when the final race of the season is up. I’m as always heading to Anderstorp with victory as my goal,” said Göransson.

The TTA weekend starts with testing on Friday, followed by qualifying and the 40 minute race on Saturday.
