Johan Kristoffersson leads VW 1-2-3 in Knutstorp practice

Scandinavian Touring Car Championship leader Johan Kristoffersson led the way in the Free Practice session at Knutstorp in the Team Biogas.se Volkswagen Scirocco. IPS Team Biogas pair Patrik Olsson and Johan Stureson were second and third, with Michel Nykjaer the top Chevrolet driver in fourth.

The top position alternated between the Volkswagen and Chevrolet drivers early in the session, before Michel Nykjaer’s time of 1:01.880 held the Dane on top for the bulk of the 45 minute practice.

With just under ten minutes to go, the Volkswagen drivers took over at the front, with points leader Johan Kristoffersson setting a time of 1:01.396 to go fastest, over three-tenths of a second clear of Patrik Olsson in the IPS Team Biogas VW Scirocco.

Michel Nykjaer wound up fourth in the Chevrolet Cruze ahead of team-mate Rickard Rydell, with Jordi Gené sixth in the fourth Scirocco.

Niclas Olsson was the fastest of the privateer drivers in his NP Racing SEAT León and seventh overall.

Tony Johansson was an early casualty, stopping on the start-finish straight in his G-Rex Mercedes near the start of the session, whilst Tomas Engström’s Honda Civic never even joined the track, remaining in his paddock awning for the whole session.
