Material defects behind Danielsson’s big crash at Tierp

Alx Danielsson had one of his worst crashes in the qualifying session for the TTA – Racing Elite League race at Tierp Arena which left him with a couple of broken ribs.
“I headed to the first chicane at about 180 km/h when the car suddenly turned a hard right. I hit the guard rails a couple of times before the car came to a halt,” said Danielsson.

The team examined the car after the accident and found that a bolt for the rear wing had failed.
“A bolt for the rear wing broke which made the car to spin around. It was a material defect that we couldn’t prevent,” said Team Manager Tobias Johansson.

The crash left Danielsson to sit out the race as the damage on the car was too big to repair ahead of the start.
“I was a bit sore after the accident, but I am alright now. But it was a shame to be out from the race. The time I set before the accident was enough for fourth on the grid and I had a strong pace all weekend. I am convinced that I had fought for a podium finish in the race,” said Danielsson.

Despite hitting the barriers at close to 180 km/h, the cockpit of the Brovallen Design Citroën TTA car was intact and Team Manager Johansson praises the safety level of the cars.
“I mean, just look at the pictures from the crash, it was a big one and Alx was able to walk away with just some broken ribs. The safety level of the TTA cars is on the very top of what we have got today,” said Danielsson.
