Volkswagen gets 30 kilo weight reduction for Solvalla

The Volkswagen team Biogas.se has received a weight reduction of 30 kilos ahead of the Scandiavian Touring Car Championship finale at Solvalla this weekend. The reduction has left rival team Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden upset.

“We are having difficulties understanding the decision to reduce our competitors weight with 30 kilos ahead of such an important race,” said Niklas Karlsson, Team Manager of Chevrolet Motorsport Sweden, calling the reduction an “unexpected change of the regulations.”

Chevrolet drivers Rickard Rydell and Michel Nykjaer are first and second in the championship ahead of the two final races, separated by nine points. Volkswagen title candidate Johan Kristoffersson, who headed the standings until the previous race at Knutstorp, is third, 20 points behind Rydell with 50 points left to fight for.
