Volkswagen claimed both pole positions for the final STCC races of the year at Solvalla. Johan Kristoffersson took an important step in his fight back for the title battle with Chevrolet duo Rickard Rydell and Michel Nykjaer with pole in the first race. Patrik Olsson took pole for the second race.
Kristoffersson secured pole just 0.081 seconds ahead of Johan Stureson, with Olsson making it a Volkswagen 1-2-3 in third.
Chevrolet duo Nykjaer and Rydell claimed positions four to five, 0.338 and 0.401 seconds behind respectively, promising for a tough fight in the first race tomorrow in order for the both to reduce the points loss to Kristoffersson.
Nykjaer was beaten by 0.167 seconds by Olsson in the second qualifying session, with Kristoffersson securing a Volkswagen sandwich in third. Championship leader Rydell is going to have a tough fight tomorrow, starting fifth in both races.
Tomas Engström, who was fastest in the first session, is going to start last as he had his times disallowed as his car refused to start after the technical check-up.
