Tomas Engström was fastest in the first ever practice session at trotting track Solvalla in Stockholm. The Honda driver lapped the 1.2 kilometer track in 47.437, just over two tenths faster than top Volkswagen driver in the form of Patrik Olsson in second.
Volkswagen title contender Johan Kristoffersson was third fastest ahead of championship rival Michel Nykjaer, 0.5 and 0.7 seconds from the fastest time respectively.
Jordi Gené headed championship leader Rickard Rydell in fifth, with Rydell being over 1.2 seconds from Engström’s fastest time. Santosh Berggren was best SEAT driver in seventh ahead of Johan Stureson.
Top privateer was the already crowned Niclas Olsson in ninth ahead of Andreas Ahlberg, rounding off the top ten just over three seconds from the top time.
