Jason Plato headed the first Free Practice session at Rockingham. The MG KX Momentum driver stayed on top for the whole session, as Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal followed in second and third respectively.
The two Pirtek Racing drivers were right behind, with Jeff Smith and Andy Jordan in fourth and fifth about half a second slower than Plato.
Andy Neate was sixth in the second MG6, 1.3s behind his team-mate. Aron Smith came seventh in the Redstone Racing Ford Focus, just ahead of Mat Jackson in the full NGTC-spec Focus. Frank Wrathall and Rob Collard rounded off the top ten.
The sunny weather and the perfect track conditions enabled the field to have a clean session, in which the Hondas looked strong in their chase on Plato.
