Ekblom and Ohlsson showdown in TTA finale

Fredrik Ekblom and Linus Ohlsson are the only two drivers with a shot for the first ever TTA – Racing Elite League title in the final race of the year at Gothenburg City Arena this weekend.

But the chance for Ohlsson is extremely slim. The Saab driver has got to win the race, take the bonus points for pole position and fastest lap in order to snatch the title at the same time as Ekblom scores zero points.

“I know that my chances are very small. No one has managed to take the triple in a race weekend before. But I am going to give my best for it and I know that we are have a good chance of winning the race either way and that is my goal,” said Ohlsson.

Ekblom only needs to secure a single point to claim the title and the three-time Swedish champion aims to do it as soon as possible.

“My goal is to secure the title as fast as possible, hopefully in qualifying. Linus has done a great job this year and it is nice to see that he still has a chance. But we have had a great year, Volvo Polestar Racing has performed above my expectations. I am heading to the final with a lot of emotions and my goal is as usual a victory, but most important, a title,” said Ekblom.

Ohlsson is chased by two other drivers that are in for a shot on the runner-up position in the championship: Thed Björk and Fredrik Larsson. Björk won the race at Gothenburg in June this year and will just as Larsson be a force to be reckoned with this weekend.

The top championship drivers might get hard resistance from Citroën driver Alx Danielsson who crashed heavily in the previous race at Tierp Arena. Danielsson claimed pole position for the previous race at Gothenburg and aims to be back in style this weekend.

“I am still in pain, ribs take time to heal. But we know that we have a really good car for Gothenburg and I think that we can be in the very top with several of our cars in the team,” said Danielsson.

The flying dutchman Duncan Huisman is the latest addition to the TTA field. Huisman replaces Andreas Ebbesson for the final race of the year and the Dutchman has a strong history at Gothenburg City Arena.
“I won both races here in Camaro in 2008, I really like the track. But I keep my expectations rather low as the championship is really strong with a lot of fast drivers,” said Huisman.

Rain might play a big part in the final TTA race of the year. Weather forecasts predicts a lot of rain during the weekend, something that could turn things around as the TTA drivers have done few kilometers with their cars on a wet track.
