Edoardo Mortara was the fastest in the second Free Practice session at Valencia. The Italian was almost one tenth quicker than Martin Tomczyk, in a session dominated by Audi.
Behind Tomczyk is in fact a five-car Audi train, including Mike Rockenfeller, Filipe Albuquerque, Mattias Ekström, Miguel Molina and Timo Scheider, all covered by just two tenths of a second.
Dirk Werner and title contender Bruno Spengler made it into the top ten, with Adrien Tambay rounding it up in tenth.
Mercedes looked in a difficult situation as championship leader Gary Paffett and title contender Jamie Green were sixteenth and seventeenth respectively, one second shy of Mortara.
With the track still damp due to an overnight storm, the first part of the free practice saw a few little offs from some drivers. Susie Wolff and Roberto Merhi both spun and rejoined during the second part of the session.
Qualifying should be held on a dry track; the session is scheduled for 13.40 CET.
