Tim Blanchard takes over from Todd Kelly

Tim Blanchard will race the #7 Kelly Racing Holden Commodore for the remainder of the season, after Todd Kelly pulls out due to a shoulder injury.

Blanchard was Kelly’s partner at the two recent endurance events at Bathurst and Sandown, and will pair with Marco Andretti at next weekend’s Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise.

Kelly hurt his shoulder whilst training prior to the Sandown 500, and after a post-race check-up, was recommended that he receive surgery after the Bathurst 1000 race, which took place earlier this week.

Kelly now plans to rest to be fully ready for the team’s transition into Nissan Motorsport for the 2013 V8 Supercars season.

“I’m a bit sore at the moment which is to be expected and pleased with the result of the surgery,” said Kelly. “I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel once I get the green light from Dr. Barwood. Tim will take over the #7 Jack Daniel’s Racing car and I know he will do a great job for us and will help get Marco Andretti up to speed at the Gold Coast race.”
