Nestor Girolami and Matías Rossi share wins at Santa Fe

Toyota Team Argentina’s Matías Rossi and Peugeot Cobra Team’s Néstor Girolami have both scored wins at the latest round of the Super TC 2000 Championship at Santa Fe. Girolami took victory in Saturday’s night race, whilst reigning champion Rossi won in daylight on Sunday.

Girolami led the way under cover of the night on Saturday in his Peugeot 408 to put his championship challenge back on track. With title rival and current points leader José María López finishing fifth in the PSG16 Ford Focus, Girolami was able to close up by eight points in the standings to López, and was just 11 points behind at the conclusion of the first race.

Emiliano Spataro finished second in the Renault Lo Jack Team Fluence, just over two-seconds behind with Matías Rossi completing the podium for Toyota Team Argentina (TTA).

Christian Ledesma took a strong fourth for Chevrolet in the Cruze, with López picking up eight points in fifth, still within 10 seconds of Girolami at the line.

For race two, Rossi started from pole position in the Toyota Corolla, with the Chevrolet of Agustín Canapino alongside, whilst José María López started all the way down in 23rd.

Rossi held on to score his third win of the season, his first since San Juan in May, crossing the line less than a second ahead of Renault’s Emiliano Spataro. Saturday’s race winner Girolami took the final spot on the podium, leading a trio of Peugeots with Damian Fineschi in fourth and Facundo Ardusso fifth.

José María López recovered to finish 15th, but saw his championship lead decimated. With two races remaining, López now leads on 162.5 points, just 1.5 points ahead of Girolami and 2.5 points ahead of reigning champion Matías Rossi.

The next round of the Super TC 2000 Championship is at Salta in three weeks time on November 4th.
