The two Arena Ford Focuses of James Nash and Tom Chilton will start from the last row regardless of qualifying for race one after the two cars have changed engines for this race.
The team has requested to change the engine in both of their cars this weekend. In the 2012 WTCC season, only one engine is permitted for the season, with changes only permitted without penalty in cases of force majeure, where an engine is damaged due to contact or race damage.
As a result, although the cars’ qualifying performance will set their grid position for race two, they will start from the back regardless of their results for race one, though the order of who’s ahead, Nash or Chilton, will be determined by their qualifying result.
