Ollie Jackson pleased with strong wet showing
Speedworks Motorsport’s Ollie Jackson let the quartet of Toyotas in the top 10 after first practice, declaring himself happy with the car’s performance in the wet.
But the 29-year-old said not much could be read into the times after finishing P2 in the session, with several drivers choosing not to set a representative time.
Jackson told TouringCarTimes: “It was a bit of pot luck, but it’s nice to have. The thing to take home from it is the wet and intermediate balance we’ve got is very good, and if it wasn’t you wouldn’t be able to post that sort of time.
“That’s very encouraging. The downside is we didn’t really get any dry running, so we have still got a bit of work to do on that.
“I think the longer wheelbase helps in those sort of conditions. You get plenty of traction and it’s quite a stable platform. Whether it works in the dry or now, we’re yet to find out.”
Jackson is unsure of what conditions he will face for the rest of the day, and says he isn’t keen on setting any targets for his weekend.
He said: “We don’t know what to expect. The forecast was dry, and caught everyone by surprise. But we will take whatever comes, everyone’s got to deal with it.
“To be completely honest, it’s not my favourite track, so we will take whatever comes!”
