Darryl O’Young to Le Mans 24 hours
WTCC racer Darryl O’Young is going to take part in the legendary Le Mans 24 hours race this year, driving a Ferrari 458.
“Since I last drove at Le Mans in 2009, I have hoped for the opportunity to return again to this great race,” said O’Young.
The Hong Kong driver is going to race for AF Corse together with Lorenzo Casè and Piergiuseppe Perazzin in the GTE AM category.
“The experience and competence of Darryl, Piergiuseppe and Lorenzo give us hope: we believe that their car could do well in one of the most important races in the world,” said Amato Ferrari, AF Corse owner.
The goal for the trio is to fight for the class victory in the race, which is the 90th since the first Le Mans race in 1923.
“We are aiming for the class win and anything less would be disappointing. It will be my first time competing in the Ferrari 458 GT2, but I am sure I can adapt quickly to the car and I am confident in its performance as it’s a proven GTE winning car. I will do everything in my strength to earn a good result and to make the fans in China and Hong Kong proud at this legendary race,” said O’Young.
