Points leader Matías Rossi claims pole at La Pampa

Toyota Team Argentina’s Matías Rossi has scored pole position for the fourth round of the 2013 Argentinian Super TC 2000 Championship at La Pampa, with a time almost half a second faster than team-mate Bernardo Llaver.

The 29-year-old dominated the third segment of qualifying with a time of 1:14.048 in his Toyota Corolla, whilst Llaver was his closest rival with a time of 1:14.504.

Equipo Petronas Fiat’s José María López was the only other driver within half a second of Rossi’s pace in third, with the Renault Fluence of fourth Emiliano Spataro and Agustín Canapino the fastest of the Chevrolet drivers in fifth.

The second highest placed Renault of Guillermo Ortelli was sixth fastest ahead of Lopez’s team-mate and early championship leader Facundo Ardusso in seventh.

Toyota’s Mariano Werner was eighth, setting a time just over a second down on team-mate Rossi, with Ignacio Char in the PSG16 Team Ford Focus and Néstor Girolami’s Peugeot 408 completing the top ten.

The top eight drivers will compete in the Super 8 head-to-head races on Sunday morning to decide the final qualifying order for tomorrow’s race which starts at 1pm local time.
