Richard Göransson tops short second test at Solvalla

Richard Göransson was fastest in the short 10 minute session at Solvalla, lapping the track in 47.976. The times were about three seconds slower compared to yesterday, mainly because of the freshly laid asphalt after the damage yesterday which cancelled the second test session.

Göransson was two tenths faster than fellow BMW driver Robin Rudholm in second and Norwegian Saab driver Roar Lindland in third position.

Tomas Engström in the Honda Civic posted the fourth fastest time, a full 1.409 seconds from Göransson’s time, with Thed Björk, who topped the first 30 minute test session yesterday in fifth.

One incident happened during the test session as Göransson turned Lindland around in turn four. Both cars were able to continue with limited damage.

Qualifying starts at 12.05 CET and it will be held under tricky conditions. The track organisers have poured water on the parts of the track which has got new asphalt in order to cool it down to limit damage. The water will most likely not have evaporated before the start of the qualifying session.
