Thed Björk heads Volvo 1-2-3-4 at Solvalla

Thed Björk headed home a first ever Volvo 1-2-3-4 in the STCC race at Solvalla in Stockholm.
“We have worked so hard for this, just awesome with a Volvo 1-2-3-4!” said Björk.

Björk started from pole but received hard pressure from BMW’s Fredrik Larsson in to the first corner. But with Björk on the inside line, Larsson dropped one position to Linus Ohlsson.

Things turned worse for Larsson later in to the race as he received a drive through penalty for spinning Linus Ohlsson out from second position. Ohlsson dropped to fifth while Larsson got a black flag for ignoring his drive through penalty and was disqualified from the race. The team later reported that Larsson supposedly was without a functioning radio during the race.

Robert Dahlgren was involved in an incident with Robin Rudholm. Dahlgren went on the inside of Rudholm in turn five, resulting in a spin and retirement for Rudholm as something broke in the suspension. Dahlgren was able to continue to secure second position and his best result of the season so far.

While Volvo Polestar Racing celebrated their best ever STCC result, things went from bad to worse for BMW Dealer Team as former championship leader Richard Göransson had a tough race. Göransson spun on his own first and later got a drive through penalty, dropping him to last. The BMW driver fought his way back up to fifth position in the end, five seconds from the top four Volvos.

Daniel Haglöf secured sixth position ahead of Roar Lindland and Mattias Andersson. Niclas Olsson and Tomas Engström rounded off the top ten.
