Nightmare weekend for Brovallen Design at Solvalla
The second STCC weekend of 2013 turned out to be a nightmare for Brovallen Design as Jocke Mangs retired and Niclas Olsson finished ninth with a damaged car.
“I had a good pace in the first six or seven laps. I both gave and received hits and eventually it became too much,” said Olsson.
The Citroën driver finished ninth, one lap behind the leader but secured two points despite that.
“The car became slower and slower. But I got some points with me at least,” said Olsson.
Team mate Mangs had an even worse weekend. He was forced to sit out the first test session due to technical problems, qualified seventh only to retire as the lights went to green in the race.
“One of my worst weekends on a racing circuit. I had gotten ready for five weeks ahead of this and then it all turns to nothing,” said Mangs.
A drive shaft broke in the start for Mangs who had no choice but to roll off the grid and watch the race from the pits.
“The car felt great from my first lap to the race. I’m not sure how well we could have done in both qualifying and race if the car would have been this good from the start,” said Mangs.
