Christian Vietoris confident strong Mercedes form will continue
Mercedes’ Christian Vietoris believes the Stuttgart manufacturer is well placed for the rest of the season, following its 1-3 result yesterday at the Lausitzring.
HWA driver Vietoris, who took pole on Saturday, was beaten to victory by team-mate Gary Paffett, but nonetheless, the young German was pleased to secure his second third place of the season, and believes Mercedes can perform strongly in the remaining races of the season.
“Five Mercedes-Benz drivers in the points shows that our team has definitely made progress, and so we can look optimistically to the future,” said Vietoris after the race.
Whilst unable to secure his maiden DTM career victory, the 24-year old was pleased with his performance over the weekend.
“Of course, you want to win starting from pole position, but we must keep the big picture in mind and from that point of view, I’ve had a good weekend.
“My first DTM pole position was a great experience and I secured a lot of points again today with my second podium and am now placed fourth in the championship standings.”
