Mandatory refueling set for all race weekends in 2014

In a further step to achieve parity between the different cars of V8 Supercars, mandatory refueling is set for all race weekends in 2014.
“We very much believe that the fans own the sport, so we have done a lot of research around our formats and how we build progress the series. Through the commission process we have simplified it to three specific formats,” said V8 Supercars MD James Warburton to Network 7.

The 60/60 Sprint format, introduced this year, will be changed for 2014 to two 100 kilometer races on Saturday and one 200 kilometer race on Sunday.

This format will be used at all races except for the Pirtek Enduro Cup and the races at Adelaide, Sydney and Townsville, with the three last race weekends featuring two 250 kilometer races.

The changes are made in order to further even the differences in fuel consumption between the engines from Ford, Nissan, Holden, Mercedes and, next year, Volvo.
