Steven Richards fastest in red-flagged second practice

Steven Richards was fastest in the co-driver only second practice session at Bathurst. The Pepsi Max Crew FPR Ford driver lapped the legendary circuit in 2:10.5531 and was 0.416 seconds faster than Paul Dumbrell in the Red Bull Racing Holden Commodore, with team mate Warren Luff in third, just 0.05 seconds behind.

The session was red-flagged early on as Andrew Thompson went head on in to the tyre barriers due to brake failure, reported to have been caused by debris cutting a brake line.

As the session resumed, Thompson’s team mate Steven Johnson posted the fourth fastest lap time overall for Mercedes, 0.737 seconds from the top time.

Taz Douglas made it three different manufacturers in the top five for Nissan, just over eight tenths from Richard’s best time.

Craig Baird claimed position six ahead of two-time DTM champion Mattias Ekström in seventh position for Xbox One Racing.
