Whincup/Dumbrell top Gold Coast practice sessions

Red Bull Racing Australia duo Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell made a clean sweep of all four Gold Coast practice sessions.

The duo headed a Holden 1-2-3 in the fourth practice session with Holden Racing Team driver James Courtney in second and Wilson Security Racing driver David Wall in third, all three being within four tenths of a second.

David Reynolds was the top Ford driver in fourth position ahead of Nissan driver Michael Caruso in fifth, both being within half a second from the top time.

Will Davison, Shane Van Gisbergen and Tony D’Alberto rounded off the top eight.

A number of the regular front runners were far behind in the practice sessions. Bathurst 1000 race winner Mark Winterbottom was only 22nd, with Craig Lowndes four positions ahead in 18th after a double puncture in the final session. Jason Bright was forced to sit out the session as his car was repaired from a crash by his co-driver Andrew Jones earlier during the day.
