It’s a Ford only fight at the Shanghai finale

Chang’an Ford FRD Team’s Andy Yan and Jiang Tengyi head to the season finale of the 2013 China Touring Car Championship as the only contenders for the drivers’ title, whilst Volkswagen’s Wang Rue can only hope for second at best.

The eighth and final round of this year’s Championship takes place this weekend, with the CTCC supporting the FIA World Touring Car Championship on their third visit to China.

Chang’an Ford FRD secured the manufacturers’ title last time out at Zhuhai, and also ensured that only one of their men could win the drivers’ title, putting it out of reach of Shanghai VW 333 Racing’s Wang Rue.

Han Han won the last race at Zhuhai for Volkswagen and is the reigning champion, but won’t be able to take part this weekend due to a calendar clash with the China Rally Championship and so his placed will be filled by Caterham F1 reserve driver Martin Ma Ching Qua.

Kia Racing and the independent Chevrolet-equipped G Racing teams will also be at attendance for the season finale. Li Zhi Cong of Dong Feng Honda Racing in the Honda Spirior and Zhang Sheng Jun of ASR da Marco will also return for the finale.

Qualifying takes place at 16:35 local time on Saturday.
