Erebus Motorsport down to two cars for 2014

Erebus Motorsport is going to scale down to two cars for the 2014 V8 Supercars. Team owner Ryan Maddison is nonetheless confident of a strong coming season.
“Our expectations with every piece we are putting together is we will have front-running vehicles as at practice day one at event number one in 2014,” said Maddison to the official championship site.

Lee Holdsworth is the so far only confirmed driver for next year as Tim Slade has left for Walkinshaw Racing and Maro Engel, currently placed 28th in the championship, is not going to get a renewed full-season contract.

“It has been a tumultuous year for Maro. Clearly he is a very skilled operator, but we all knew what makes V8 Supercars so special is it is a very unique category. There is a lot of contact, it’s a unique car to get your head around. Obviously Erebus Motorsport has an agreement with Maro right now as a driver and it would be remiss of us to lose a talent like that from a GT perspective considering we are actively pursuing a GT program for the (Bathurst) 12 hour next year and both domestic and international categories,” said Maddison.

While not officially confirmed, current Ford Performance Racing driver Will Davison looks set to be announced as Holdsworth’s team mate next year.
