Aiden Moffat confirms plans for 2014 BTCC

Record-breaking Scottish teenager Aiden Moffat has announced his plans for the 2014 BTCC season, with a title sponsor in the form of Laser Tools.

The 17-year-old, who became the youngest driver ever to compete in the BTCC when made his series debut at Knockhill last season in an S2000 Chevrolet Cruze, will drive an NGTC version of the same model in the 2014 campaign.

Moffat, who has NGTC experience having driven a Volkswagen CC for Tony Gilham Racing at Silverstone and Brands Hatch, will drive the former IP Tech Race Cruze under the Laser Tools Racing banner.

Moffat said: “I’m very excited to become involved with Laser Tools Racing and after scoring championship points at two BTCC events last year I am now firmly focused for the season ahead. Bring it on.”

Team manager, Bob Moffat, added: “It is clear that we have a very competitive car and with the backing of Laser Tools Racing, a very competitive team — we are confident that Aiden is going to be the driver to watch for the 2014 season.”

Laser Tools managing director, Martin Smith, said: “We have been watching Aiden Moffat carefully over the past twelve months. We have had success with WTCC sponsorship over the past few years but have felt that the BTCC series could offer us exciting opportunities.

“When Aiden announced his plans for 2014 with the NGTC Chevrolet Cruze, it was a perfect fit, and our partnership with the talented, young Scottish driver was formed.”

As well as racing in the BTCC, Moffat also finished second in the Scottish Fiesta championship in 2013, winning nine of the final 10 races.
