Paul di Resta pleased with return to title winning livery

Mercedes DTM returnee, Paul di Resta, is hoping a return to the livery he ran in his 2010 DTM title year will give him a strong 2014 comeback season.

This year, di Resta returns to the DTM where he drove from 2007 to 2010 with Mercedes.

Between 2011 and 2013, di Resta raced in Formula 1 with Force India.

At the end of the 2013 Formula 1 season, Force India opted to replace di Resta and then team-mate, Adrian Sutil, with Nico Hülkenberg and Sergio Perez for 2014.

Mercedes revealed di Resta’s white and silver AMG livery on February 26 in a nod to the Scot’s 2010 DTM title win.

di Resta’s car is also the first 2014 DTM car to be shown with full livery.

“It’s up to Mercedes to decide [on who runs which livery], but obviously it was my preferred option to be back in the same car I had for three of the four years I had in the DTM,” di Resta told TouringCarTimes. “It’s nice they re-introduced the same colour scheme for me.

“Hopefully with that, the combination will be the same.”

Mercedes has announced di Resta, Gary Paffett, and Dani Juncadella as three drivers so far for 2014.

A fourth driver will be announced on Friday February 28.
